New sample file recovered

A new sample file has recently been rediscovered. This one is one of the few examples that can be decoded with Intacta Express (or the, at the time, free Color Scan & Fax application from the partially rebadged Infoimaging 3d FaxFile)

This example was originally available to download from the Tomorrow’s World website and was also printed in the 17th May 2000 edition of the Daily Express newspaper in the UK and is referenced in this news article from the time.

When decoded, you should see an 8KB file called “welcome.rm”. When opened you’ll see a very blurry video of Peter Snow from BBC Tomorrow’s World saying “Hello, welcome to the future!” which was the opening catchphrase of the TV programme at the time.

This file will play in VLC, though not very well. I’ve had the best success opening it in Real Player 7 on Windows XP.
